I have served in a number of Education roles in Japan, Bellevue
and Seattle, including Elementary Teacher, Literacy Intervention Teacher,
Private Literacy Coach, Teacher of English Language Learners, and
Instructional Facilitator for Teachers of English Language Learners.
I hold an undergraduate degree in English Literature from University of
Maryland (College Park, MD) and an MA in Human Development from
Pacific Oaks College (Pasadena, CA) which emphasized anti bias education,
critical inquiry, and lifelong learning (Thesis:" Promoting Critical Thinking
Through Children's Literature.")
I am National Board Certified in Literacy (early/middle childhood), with endorsements in Reading, ELL (English Language Learning), and School Library Media (University of Washington, 2017). I also hold a certificate in Writing for Children (UW). Children's literature and illustration are among my truest joys.
I live in Phinney/Ballard with my husband and two children (ages 5 and 7), where we create lots of things, make lots of messes, and ask lots of questions.

It has been a labor of love to launch the library at Cedar Park Elementary! As I work to build a strong and dynamic program, I draw inspiration from a parade of writers, artists, educators, and scholars who harness the power of art, story, and inquiry to spark joy, deepen thought, and facilitate positive social change.
