Last year, in keeping with our first expeditionary theme of "Mascot," our first school-wide reading advocacy effort tackles issues of Identity and Community by exploring who we are as readers.
This year, reading advocacy focuses on deepening community through Community Book Picks, Skype author beginning with Saadia Faruqi in October, a school-wide celebration of International Dot Day, a Popcorn Party in April to celebrate students reading WA state award winning books, Reading Without Walls Challenge, and more!
Saadia Faruqi, author of new Early Reader series Meet Yasmin, visits K and 1 (via Skype) in October!
